The South Korean tech giant Samsung has released important information for the Samsung Galaxy Ring, which was launched as a competitor to the market’s most advanced smart ring, the Oura Ring, and has received significant interest so far. If you don’t want your smart ring to break, here’s what you should avoid.
Samsung Galaxy Ring is Negatively Affected by Magnets!
According to Samsung’s official support page, this wearable device should be kept away from magnets. The page specifically mentions that if the hand wearing the ring is near a magnet or a magnetic object, features like step counting may not work correctly. Therefore, if you work in areas with magnetic fields or like to play with refrigerator magnets, your device might get damaged.
Samsung also recommends removing the Galaxy Ring during weightlifting and other exercises involving machines. There are two reasons for this: to protect the ring and to prevent hand/finger injuries. The support page states that wearing the ring while lifting weights can lead to hand injuries, indicating that the ring might get caught or damaged during strenuous exercises.
Similar recommendations apply to other smart rings as well. For instance, the Oura support page also advises against weightlifting and high-friction activities. However, interestingly, there is no warning about magnets for the Oura ring.
